True, also Antonius’s instincts are generally pretty ace, think he knew Laak was stepping out a little from the start. His whole demeanour suggests that he really isn’t concerned with Antonius’s hand and is zoned in on flat-out winning the pot.

Little wreckless on the part of Laak, seems likes he’s steaming in this hand.

LOL at results oriented thinking: “No then it would be a pretty expensive misread.”

Thank God Howard didn’t raise the flop.

Hard to say – better odds against higher likelihood of being behind. Furthermore Antonius is certainly sick enough to check raise bluff if he bets less. Guess all options are pretty close in ev.
It might have been a more profitable (or less unprofitable :D ) bluff on Laaks part tough.

I think Antonius would have dogged it if Laak fired about $45-50k on the river, Laak would only bet as much as 80k with a set or with complete air; I can’t see a player like Laak value betting AK or aces for that much.

and Laak might play on the level that Antonius knows that Laak knows that its a bad triple barrel spot. Laak is not the guy that goes for ultra thin value with 77-JJ on the river. His value range is AQ, AK, AA , sets and very rarely straights and thats about it. So Antonius needs to guess if Laak can bet for value here less than 2.5 to 1 compared to his triple barrels.

The turn is an obvious double barrel card, and even a nit like Laak would barrel there with a huge percentage of his air, which he has a lot because the flop is an obvious bet with ace high since he has 10 outs against most pairs – so its a standard call on the turn for antonius even without the flush draw. The tricky thing is the river call for Antonius, since the river is a relatively bad triple barrel spot once called on the turn,

i second that “best cash game player in the world”… i;ve been following Patrik for more than 2 years now and the things i’ve seen make me believe the exact same thing! seen him making such calls for pots that go over 300k several times ; there is a handfull of people that simply know how to extract value at any board with any hand and he is one of them.Daniel and Antonio seem to be able to do the same thing but i’ve never seen them playing live.

Phil Laak always bets weird amounts when he wants to get paid off. 80k just didn’t seem like a phil laak – plz call me bet. Also size was an issue.

Good play by patrick – sick @ss call!!!
